This past weekend I attended the Interior Design Show West at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Before entering the exhibits, I was awed by the venue itself. I had not gone in since it opened during the Olympics. Breathtaking it is, blending beautiful design, architecture, and green environmental attention. It would’ve been easy to just sit there all afternoon as far as I was concerned. One of the key reasons was its sheer size. By giving the features lots of space to be admired, it allowed beauty to be seen and taken in.
I did venture into the Design show after some drooling. And there was more beauty to be seen. Some of the ideas and creations were genius. One of my friends that came along commented how it made him want to learn and do everything – make glass, work with wood, paint, design, etc. I understood completely. Such an event humbles me immediately and I feel moments of despair that I cannot do it all. Fortunately I took some photos. At least I can appreciate it all. And it was a good inspiration, since this week I have committed myself to do something creative every day.
