Getting Un-stuck

Do you have times when you are stuck, in a rut? It happens to the best of us. In my experience, no matter how enlightened I may be about how to handle it from an objective place, in the moment I’m too stuck to do anything!  Yesterday was one of those days. After some struggling, I asked friends for advice on what to do. There was a variety of ideas from getting a cappuccino, to grounding and breathing, to dancing, to accomplishing tasks on my to-do list. I chose the first. It was enjoyable and helped distract me for a while, but it did not create any shift as taking a break can sometimes do.

I needed a heavy duty solution. This meant getting out of the tiny box I had somehow stuffed myself into without realizing. Throughout my life when things don’t turn out the way I wanted (yep, it happens), after attempts to work on them or find acceptance, I have chosen to look further afield and expand my options. This led to a move to England years ago, it led to opening myself to teaching Nia, and starting my consulting business. And while each of these had elements of scariness to them, they also felt right. I found space to breathe again.

Yesterday, I needed to find space to breathe. While I have opinions on spending too much time on a computer, it is a great resource and one that is helped me on many an occasion. So yesterday, I began to do some research on any area of interest to me. I began to look further afield. And I found something that gave me some joy and then peace. Everything slowed down. I felt calm. There was no struggle. Whether or not, I pursue that which I found, it opened my box to know that there are many options when we choose to look. How freely are you breathing?

Lovely! Thank you for the reminder that there are options unknown but available if we open up and think beyond our typical thoughts.
