A Day Shopping in Seattle

A number of my favourite wardrobe items were bought in other cities.  When I was younger, I usually picked up one or two souvenirs when travelling, but that quickly lost its appeal. Then I gravitated to buying home decor items while away, simply beautiful objects. But I don’t like too much clutter, so I realized I didn’t want more things. So now, I focus on buying a piece of clothing; something that may be unique, well-priced, or a must-have, and I get to remember my travels through them as well.

Bought at Anthropologie in Seattle

My most recent trip was to Seattle with a friend who wanted my fashion sense.  We found a number of stores that offered style at different price points. I found a lovely summer top on sale that I can dress up or down for $29!  And since we now have the HST in British Columbia, we just had to show our ID to not have to pay tax in Washington state. I also bought this beautiful knit vest in the photo.

My friend found a bunch of items she loved and so had to choose. Where was this?…in a beautiful shop called Anthropologie in downtown Seattle.  I actually first came across it when I lived in London.  It has a distinct style that my friend loves. While it’s not my look so much, it’s easy to find great pieces like this vest.  Now for any of you who are curious or already know this store, the good news is that they’re currently looking to open a location in Vancouver!  Their price range can venture to over a $100 for items, however it may be worth it to get something a little different.  And if you’re on a budget, their sales will help.

For those of you who love a retro look, there’s a sweet boutique called Diva Dollz.  I spotted the most charming pumps and they also had lovely retro dresses.

Finally, my friend fell in love with a hoodie (yes) by a Seattle company called Prairie Underground that sells their work in the USA and Canada. I have to say I liked the femininity of it and it was a gorgeous salmon colour.

All in all, it was a good day.  We got to have time away, some lovely meals (try a French bistro, Cafe Campagne, near the Market – the calamari and trout were yum), and we found some wonderful summer items. If you can’t venture too far from home, try a different neighbourhood.  It’ll do you good!
