This acrylic painting is one of my projects from an art class I took at Emily Carr. We were encouraged to play with different tools and textures. It was done in the moment, no plan, simply play. It’s up in my home right now along with other paintings and photographs I’ve taken. One day I realized that I might as well enjoy it and remind myself to continue to create. It’s been fun having people notice and make comments.

Or maybe it’s time to set up a project for yourself, even a tiny one that asks you to create something new with what you’ve got. What helped me begin my artistic journey was the reminder that “every journey begins with a single step”, and guess what, over time that can lead to a whole work of art!
