Within a few hours, I found ten wonderful items to complete my recent client’s wardrobe needs. He’s heading to Europe and wanted to look his best.
Many men and women find shopping a headache because they are not sure what works for them, what is fashionable, and more importantly what brings out their best self. That’s where I come in. What really helped me do my job well was that Douglas really relaxed and trusted me to guide him and find the best pieces. As with any work, trust is important and I know I must listen and observe carefully to have my client feel relaxed and open to a new self. In order to get to know them and their needs, I follow a number of steps. Prior to the actual shopping day, I looked at Douglas’ current wardrobe, asked key questions about what was important to him, considered his budget, and assessed his lifestyle/body type. With all this in mind, I then did some sourcing on my own so I could be sure that our time would be well spent.
The result was that we were able to meet his wardrobe needs in one afternoon. This is not uncommon due to the work that goes into planning and sourcing. He had originally asked to divide it into two shopping trips, but we were on such a roll that he decided to keep going, with a coffee break in between of course! These were his comments at the end of the day:
“I feel great. I’m relaxed, calm, and my brain is not tired out. I’m usually overwhelmed and feel bombarded with all the choices, styles, colours, stores. The items I bought today are perfect. This was important to me. I’m delighted with the results and feel ready to head to Europe. And, I spent exactly what I budgeted for. Thank you Jasjit.” Douglas H.
And thank you Douglas for letting me post your comments and photos. It was a pleasure and fulfilling to be involved in this part of your journey. Now go show those Europeans that we Canadians have great style! 🙂
Douglas look great! I almost always feel aggravated and spent after shopping. It is so nice to know I could have a different type of experience. Thanks Jasjit!
He does look very well dressed, in a European, understated way.
If I ever come to Canada I want to go shopping with you.
Thanks for writing! Yes, my thought was that the look will work in Europe, but also work when he returns to Canada. Do let me know if you visit Vancouver. (I’ll post any travel plans so people can book me when I’m visiting their city.)
In the meantime, I also create Style Portfolios for wherever a client lives. We can easily do this by phone/email/skype! The portfolio will show you what styles/colours/shapes work best for you given your lifestyle, body shape, and what you want to express through your clothes. It’s full of images and information tailored to you. My clients find it a great shopping assistant.
