Where do you shop?

This question come up all the time in regards to what I’m wearing. It’s been coming up often these day in my Nia classes as well.  The truth is that it’s not about the store the clothes were bought (people don’t believe it, but it is the truth).  Instead it is because I know what clothing suits me, what is in style, and how to use clothing to flatter my body type.  If I were to list every store from my own closet, it would be a long list since I do buy from all kinds of shops in Vancouver and elsewhere.

What I can tell you is this…fit and form are critical starting points and learning your body type and what suits you is an important first step. Then you must think of lifestyle and what you really want and will wear. Colours and prints add energy and style. Some people have a knack for putting colours together or choosing a flattering print, while others need some help to get them started.  Just like anything else in life we want to be good at, basic techniques and knowledge can go a long way!  Stepping out of your box helps you learn what works and what doesn’t.  And then it all becomes rather fun.  When I began working with one of my clients she first told me how she hated shopping, and then recently I heard her commenting, “Shopping is fun!”  Yes, it is possible. Once you know what you need to get started, you can and will do it on your own!
