Do you ever have moments where you feel like you’re living in a little box, or bubble? You’re going about your daily business and you find yourself focused rather intensely on your to-do list as if that’s all life is about and it’s all so very important? Well then, that is the perfect time to lift your head and take a look around. This is a clear neon sign that you are in desperate need of connecting with the world again. I know this is happening to me when I lose my smile, when I get frustrated with tiny things, and when I don’t want to get out of bed. What are your signals? Knowing them helps you say, ‘Ahh, I know why I’m feeling and acting this way.’ And then you can do something to step out and enlarge your world, giving yourself more room to breathe.
How do you re-connect to the world? Well, quite literally lifting your head and looking around wherever you are is a great start. Take a moment, breathe, see, hear, smell…access the five senses to help you become present. Then venture farther afield than usual. Take a detour to explore and be surprised. Take an hour to study something new. Delve into an experience. Find a sense of wonder and you will immediately access something greater than yourself. It is helpful to give yourself enough time so you can enjoy the experience, relax, and just be. Wander. And you will find yourself falling in love with life. Wander to find wonder. Come back and report what happened! I’d love to hear about your experience.
