Nia Movement
What is Nia?
Imagine a fitness class that naturally blends movement and music into one seamless experience to keep you healthy, happy, and fit. This is Nia ~ pronounced Nee-ah ~ a cardio and lifestyle practice that is often described as movement-medicine for the soul.
“Nia is the owner’s manual to living in a human body efficiently, effectively, with purpose and pleasure! Nia is an intricately woven, scientific, artistic, comprehensive (though simple and accessible) path to physical fitness…The potential to transform the body, emotions, mind, and spirit is vast.” T Stamper, Nia Trainer

Nia helps you slip into your skin and develop a vibrant body, mind and spirit so you can live a full and healthy life. Movements are blended from the dance, martial, and healing arts. In Swahili, the word “nia” means ‘with purpose’, a happy coincidence.
Here are just some of the benefits you’ll gain by doing Nia regularly:
- Cultivate greater energy in your daily life
- Move in harmony with the design of your body
- Be enlivened through emotional release
- Remove the build-up of tension and stress
- Condition and heal your body, mind and spirit
- Develop strength and muscle tone for a fit body
- Expand flexibility and develop coordination
- Move with grace and sense the joy of movement!
People of all fitness levels enjoy the Nia workout. Typically it is practiced barefoot, soft-soled shoes are optional, and clothing should be easy to work out in. Newcomers are always welcome. Learn more about the practice at NiaNow.com
